Jobmail Keyword Help

Once you have read these instructions, please return to the JobMail Input Form.

Using key words will limit the number of positions returned by the search, and can help you avoid reviewing long lists of jobs that are not relevant to your requirements. The search is case-insensitive and the key words are combined together using an OR function. As an example, if you set Key Word 1 = "sales" and Key Word 2 = "manager", you would return all positions containing the individual words "sales" or "manager", which would also include those with the combined words "sales manager".

Key words may also contain more than one word, which allows you to further narrow your seach. Setting Key Word 1 = "sales manager" would return all positions containing "sales manager" while excluding those containing only the words "sales" or "manager".

Note that wild cards are not supported by the JobMail search routines, so if you enter a Key Word "manag*" or similar in an attempt to get positions with the words "manager" or "management" etc you will be disappointed. In this example, entering the Key Word "manag" would achieve the desired result, though it is possible you may inadvertantly match on other words as well.

Remember that the JobMail search routines require an EXACT match for Key Words, and abbreviations will not generate a match unless they are the normal description for that type of position. Similarly, Key Words such as "sales/marketing", "OS Travel", "2 yrs experience" and "unix + perl" are highly unlikely to match with any position descriptions.

Finally, it is critical that you spell the Key Words correctly. This may seem obvious but it is surprising the proportion of entries that contain errors, and for this reason we suggest that you review the JobMail confirmation email carefully.
